Preamble

This MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING hereafter called M. o. U. is arrived at among CENTRE FOR STUDY ON RAINFALL AND RADIOWAVE PROPAGATION, SONA COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY, SALEM-5, RADIO & ATMOSPHERIC SCIENCES DIVISION, NATIONAL PHYSICAL RESEARCH LABORATORY, NEW DELHI-110012, ATMOSPHERIC SCIENCE DEPARTMENT, COCHIN UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY, COCHIN-682022, NIGERIAN METEOROLOGICAL AGENCY , PMB 1215 OSHODI, LAGOS, Nigeria. The MOU aims at promoting mutual interest through cooperation in the field of research on the basis of equality and mutual scientific benefits.

1. Justification

Meteorological problems need expertise from various fields like computer science, physics, chemistry, mathematics, statistics and electronics & communication. Hence it is necessary that people working in the field of rainfall and radio wave propagation work together. Also of equal importance is to tackle a particular problem in meteorology in different angle, especially in a country like India having diverse climatological conditions. The Centre for Study on Rainfall and Radio Wave Propagation( CRRP), Sona College of Technology proposes to sign an M.O.U. with RADIO & ATMOSPHERIC SCIENCES DIVISION , NATIONAL PHYSICAL RESEARCH LABORATORY, NEW DELHI, ATMOSPHERIC SCIENCE DEPARTMENT, COCHIN UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY, COCHIN, NIGERIAN METEOROLOGICAL AGENCY , PMB 1215 OSHODI, LAGOS, Nigeria to work jointly in understanding the mechanism of rainfall and how it affects radio wave propagation which has its importance in various fields like climatology, weather monitoring, weather forecasting, navigation, agriculture, defense and communication etc.

2. Objectives

The MoU will be wholly and solely for collaborative research work. Purpose of the MoU will be purely scientific.
Groups/ institutes coming under MoU will perform joint research work by mutual exchange of data, forming a common data bank, jointly analyzing the data such that the groups involved in the collaboration will share the data among themselves.

3. Role of collaborating parties

3.1 CRRP, SONA COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY, SALEM-5

To perform joint research work by mutual exchange of data and forming a common data bank such that the group involved in the collaboration will share the data among themselves.
To share the cost of the data equally if data has to be purchased. Such data may be used by the institutes for their independent research work or joint research work.
To retrieve data in readable form from raw data.
To do statistical analysis of the data.
To create & maintain a common website.
To maintain & upgrade data bank.
To analyze the result.
To submit research works in journal for publication.
To encourage mutual exchange of senior staff as visiting faculty on short term basis.
To encourage mutual exchange of researchers for training and research on short term basis.
